The rotary kiln tyre is mainly used to transmit the weight of the cylinder to the supporting roller so that the cylinder can rotate smoothly on the supporting roller. However, the rotary kiln tyres will be damaged in different ways during use. Common tyre damages include premature wear, insufficient rigidity of the tires, cracks on the radial section of the tires, and scale peeling, pitting, and tortoises on the outer surface of the tires.
1. The premature wear of the tire is due to the skew of the rotary kiln supporting roller, or the inconsistency of the foundation settlement of each fulcrum of the rotary kiln, resulting in the non-parallel axis of the rotary kiln tyre and the supporting roller, and the local contact stress increases, making the circular tyre being ground into saddle shape, waist drum shape, cone shape, etc. In the design, if the material and hardness of the tyre and the roller are not properly selected, it will also cause premature wear.
2. The rigidity of the rotary kiln tyre is insufficient. The rigidity of the kiln tyre has a great influence on the radial rigidity of the kiln. It is a prerequisite for prolonging the life of the refractory bricks of the rotary kiln and should be calculated.
3. The cracks on the radial section of the kiln tyre are due to the bending stress on the radial section of the tyre under the action of a huge load. At the same time, the temperature difference between the inner and outer walls of the rotary kiln tyre will also generate temperature stress on the radial section. Furthermore, if the kiln tyre is not annealed completely, casting stress will be generated in it. The superposition of these three will lead to cracks and even fractures on the radial section of the tyre.
4. Scale peeling, pitting, cracking, crushing, etc. occur on the outer surface of the rotary kiln tyre. On the contact surface of the tyre and the supporting roller, due to the action of the huge load, a large contact stress is generated. Therefore, when the kiln is running, the surface fatigue damage occurs due to the repeated action of contact stress. Generally, in old kilns that have been in operation for 20 to 30 years, it is common to see honeycomb-like pits on the tyre. After repairing and welding the defects of the tyre, the hardness difference between the repaired welding part and the welding heat-affected zone and the metal matrix is too large. It is often easy to make the whole repaired welding part fall off. The poor casting quality of the tires is also prone to cracking and crushing of the tires.
It is concluded that the rotary kiln tyre should have sufficient strength, sufficient rigidity and durability, and pay attention to reducing the temperature stress in the tyre in the design. Protecting the rotary kiln tyres can save you a lot of trouble. CHAENG uses high-quality cast steel materials and strictly controls the quality of each step of the process, to ensure that the rotary kiln tyres have sufficient strength, durability, and rigidity.
